New RB Principal

06/04/2020

Dear Richmond-Burton CHS Staff, Students, and Community:

Richmond-Burton Community High School District 157 is pleased to announce that Mike Baird has been selected as the new principal of Richmond-Burton Community High School. Mr. Baird started his career at Richmond-Burton Community High School in 2006 as a math teacher and baseball coach. In 2014, he left to pursue professional opportunities at Round Lake High School in Lake County. During his six year tenure at Round Lake High School, he served as Division Chair for the math department, Assistant Principal, and Associate Principal of Curriculum and Instruction.  In addition, he is a 2006 graduate of Illinois State University and holds a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Xavier University and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University-Chicago. He was selected from a talented, state-wide candidate pool in a competitive process that included input and participation from the school staff, building and district administrators, and the Board of Education.

Mr. Baird is an outstanding student advocate and will continue to use his skills to build on the strong progressive reputation Richmond-Burton Community High School has throughout the state. He fosters a community approach to student success through collaboration with staff, students, and families. He is committed to ensuring that student learning and welfare remain at the center of his leadership approach.

Mr. Baird will be taking over officially on July 1, 2020 for Dr. Patrick Enright, who will be moving to the district office to fill the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Assessment position which was open due to the retirement of Mrs. Belinda Veillion. In Dr. Enright’s new role, he will be part of our shared service model and serve both Nippersink SD 2 and Richmond-Burton CHSD 157.

Please join the Richmond-Burton Community High School District 157 in congratulating and welcoming Mr. Baird to the Rocket family!

Sincerely,

Dr. Tom Lind, Superintendent
