Road Map to Reopening Schools

07/21/2020

Dear Richmond-Burton CHSD157 and Nippersink SD 2 Families;

 Since May of this year both districts have been working on developing a joint plan that would provide a road map that would ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff this coming school year. Attached to this email and posted on both our websites are two documents that describe the steps and procedures being taken to ensure we open school in a manner that puts the safety and health of students and staff first.

 The first attached document is the Road Map to Reopening Schools. This is a detailed document that outlines the schedule for the start of school as well as information on all the new protocols, regulations, and cleaning procedures. The Road Map to Reopen Schools follows all the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for a safe return to school this fall.

 The second document is a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and answers regarding our return to school and how that might look for students. It is meant to be a quick reference that provides useful information and supports our Road Map to Reopen Schools.

 Principals from each school will be sending additional information that will describe how the day to day operations within their specific school will be conducted under these new guidelines. Richmond-Burton Community High School will be releasing this information on Friday, July 24, 2020. All Nippersink SD 2 schools will be releasing this information Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

  If you have any questions after reading these documents and receiving the follow up information from your student’s school, please contact that school’s principal for further information. Due to the fluid situation surrounding COVID-19, we will continue to update all stakeholders on any changes that may occur to our Road Map to Reopen Schools.

 Thank you for your support during this time of uncertainty. It remains our goal to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff while providing as much in-person learning as possible.
